Semi-Final 2

Australia 328/7 (50/50 overs) BEAT India 233 a.o. (46.5/50 overs)
(Smith 105, Finch 81)                          (MS Dhoni 65,Dhawan 45)
Australia won by 95 runs

A valiant effort from India was not enough as Australia played an almost perfect game. India had cruised through the tournament at this point but just like four months ago when they were coming into a game against Australia on such high confidence, just to be shot down.

Today though India didn’t play like they did in the Border-Gavaskar trophy, they played much better, but their downfalls were the same. One man who tormented them before, with centuries in every test did it again with another one. Smith was in before the 10th over, and he showed why he has to be considered as a match winner. He changed the game for Australia, but Kohli agonizingly again failed at this World Cup. In my opinion he wanted to get bat on ball a little too much, unlike his number three counterpart Smith. If India were going to win, they needed Kohli to apply the pressure even more after the good start Dhawan and Sharma had given them.

As Australia and New Zealand will lock horns on Sunday at the MCG, I just feel as if Australia will edge New Zealand to victory, (even though I predicted New Zealand to win.) All because of one man, Phillip Hughes. They would want to win it for him, and that for me will edge them against New Zealand. When he died, you could clearly see the emotions from the Australian team, and I just think they will bring that onto the pitch.
