The big suprises of this squad was evidently the inclusion of Gary Ballance who beat the likes of Ravi Bopara and Eion Morgan to the position.

Michael Carberry beat Nick Compton to the back up openers position.

Monty Panesar was a suprise inclusion because of his recent behaviour on and off the pitch as he was picked ahead of James Tredwell and to be honest shouldn’t of been picked as they could of gone with an all rounder like Moeen Ali who has had a sensationl county cricket season with both bat and ball.

Even though Boyd Rankin is include , might I suggest that his inclusion is one because Graham Onions was partially injured and secondly because of his height as he is a back up for Chris Tremlett. Unluckily for Graham Onions I reckon the selectors only wanted to go with one skiddy bowler which is James Anderson who is arguably going to be the best bowler on show.

We should not forget the inclusion of Ben Stokes as his inclusion is deserved and to be honest needed as he can bat and is a fast bowler that can bowl 90mph.

  1. will be interesting to see if Monty can hold it together for the whole tour. Can’t imagine he’ll bowl much…

  2. He’s just a back up for Graeme Swann so most of his time will be taking out the drinks for the lads like a good boy for a change
